Lots of people are always impressed with this and the affects you can achieve. It’s however one of the simplest things to do in photography. This involves controlling your shutter speed. You then need a light source or several depending on how complex the photograph is your trying to take and for what reason.
This really is a play with lights and shutter speeds. Take a picture and see if you can see too much or too little. Remember to look at the pictures before moving on or changing your shutter speeds so that you can always go back if you require. These patterns can always be used with models after the event through software like light box or photoshop.
If your shutter speed is too fast you will only see a small amount of the light movement. Slower the shutter speed more of the light affect you will see. You can do this yourself like the sample picture below and even outside at night so don’t worry if you haven’t got a dark room. You can practice all you like and put you name up in light!
