Your Gift Voucher
You have received a gift voucher for your birthday. A nice fat one too! Oh, what to spend it on? You can hardly wait to hit the stores and explore. But first, you make little lists of the things that you need. Then you make little lists of what you want. Oh what to do, what to do?
On your list of what you need are things like, new shoes, a new seal for the cranky old fridge, a new dustbin for the yard, a new carving knife for the kitchen (but if you are superstitious, you will not buy a friend a knife or a pair of scissors as a gift, because it is believed the sharp blade would sever the friendship), new curtains for the bedroom, getting the wonky kitchen chairs fixed, new towels for the bathroom, new slippers, a set of glasses and or coffee mugs that actually match, new new new everything!
On your list of what you want are things like, new clothes, a new handbag, jewelry, more shoes, body pamper products, the lovely Hugo Boss for women perfume, a new lounge suit, some special wine, etc.
It is quite possible that your need to get list would be way longer than your want to get list. What you are going to get in the end, will depend on your prioritizing. You received the voucher, you are going to spend it. Take into consideration, that the giver will probably ask you some time in the future, what you spent the voucher on. If you say that you have bought yourself a new knife carving set, remember to give the person (the voucher giver) a quarter, according to superstition, you will buy back your friendship that way. Quite a laugh actually, but some people are firm believers of this superstition.
Depending on where you can spend your gift voucher, you will head for the store. Some gift vouchers can be spent across a whole shopping mall. These are very sought after, because you can spend a little at the shoe store, buying yourself the shoes you wanted, then move on to the linen store and get the towels you needed, from there you can move on to a clothing store and get an outfit or some piece of clothing, and so on. You can spend the amount stated on the gift voucher all over that particular shopping mall.
If you gift voucher is limited to one store, they usually might have several departments, like linen, shoes, clothing, makeup and
fragrances, shoes, watches, costume jewelry, etc. If the gift voucher is for shopping at a jewelry store, you will be limited to that only jewelry. But I am sure you will agree that whatever you get from that store would be your very own taste and selection.
A gift voucher could also be spent on CDs, DVDs, computer games, makeovers, photo shoots, days out.
A gift voucher is a handy gift as it allows the receiver the freedom to choose from a wide selection of options. It is totally up to the receiver to redeem the voucher, and no onus on the giver.
